Overall purpose
The Faculty Manager is a key postholder in our academic delivery management structure. The role supports faculty performance and management across all schools and contributes to the smooth running of all programmes working with multiple stakeholders, enhancing the student experience and staff satisfaction. The Faculty Manager will work with multiple stakeholders to support and manage faculty recruitment, onboarding and training, faculty development and performance, HR compliance, partner and regulatory compliance, resourcing efficiency and learning and teaching excellence.
Key responsibilities
The key responsibilities of the role are:
Responsible for organising, developing and coordinating with relevant stakeholders a comprehensive onboarding programme for both permanent and associate lecturers.
Review and screen CV’s and hold recruitment days for faculty candidates.
Where there have been breaches of policy, guidance, regulation or professional standards that you take appropriate steps working with relevant stakeholders to address the issues as they arise.
Manage and support operations in workload planning across the academic year, ensuring staff with appropriate skills deliver the appropriate teaching, marking and other activities as necessary.
Support faculty to organise their annual leave to ensure minimal operational disruption avoiding a negative impact on the student experience and continuity of teaching.
To monitor and ensure that the faculty members across schools meet their KPIs including but not limited to meeting all deadlines, marking to a high standard, attending all standardisation meetings, collecting module feedback and all other tasks associated to the role or as may be allocated from time to time and comply with all aspects of the conduct policy.
Hold regular 121 meetings with faculty to receive feedback and understand the staff voice so that relevant information leading to potential enhancements can be communicated to the deputy provost to be considered and further developed to improve the faculty staff experience.
In regular 121 and team meetings communicate to faculty as required relevant information to support their learning, teaching and development and understanding of objectives.
You will be responsible for liaising with stakeholders to enable you to hold meaningful review, probation and appraisal meetings supporting development and performance of faculty.
Support staff development across Digital Teaching and Learning, Academic Support, Advance HE, L&T, Digital Literacy and other areas as appropriate working closely with the Deputy Provost, Head of Digital Learning and Teaching, and Digital Champions.
Provide communication, guidance, and support to all staff and work with the Deputy Provost, Schools, Operations and HR to ensure that our Staff Voice is heard and supported.
Ensure that any feedback from observations, student surveys, module feedback and other feedback mechanisms is communicated effectively to the relevant faculty.
Provide support to faculty to ensure a positive academic student experience to meet our B1 and B4 condition of registration.

EXPERIENCE & PERSONAL QUALITIES
Essential:
Experience of management, development and training in an HE context
Experience of working in regulated sector with compliance and monitoring requirements
High levels of emotional intelligence
Strong diplomacy and negotiating skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work in a complex matrix environment
Ability to build collaborative relationships across multiple teams
Able to work independently with initiative and sensitivity
Excellent general IT skills including MS Office and its applications.
Desirable:
Experience in recruitment and talent acquisition
Experience of teaching, curriculum development, quality management and enhancement in an HE environment
Experience of management/leadership in a regulated sector
Experience of staff development and training in an HE context. Project management experience EDUCATION & PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS Essential: Educated to degree level Master’s in relevant subject discipline, or professional management leadership experience Desirable: Teaching, learning or leadership professional qualifications
